FORGIVENESS

I forgive you we quickly say

As we go along our way

Said with no feeling from inside

Our hurt pride we do not hide

But to forgive others is not a game

The rules for everyone are the same

To forgive someone is just the start

It must be followed with a loving heart

In Luke six: twenty seven the rules are found

And for twenty-one verses truth does abound

We find we must do more than just forgive

Show love and compassion by the way we live

Before we kneel before God’s throne

Wrongs must be undone we must atone

For those who’ve wronged us or we them

All must be corrected before we come to Him

There are rules we must follow in every game

In the game of life we find it’s the same

If you break the rules you cannot play

So it is in life as we pass this way

Forgiveness is followed by loving deeds

Like the planting and watering of flower seeds

They’ll grow for all to touch and see

And bring forth beauty for you and me

Work hard at forgiving your fellow man

Make it real and closely follow God’s plan

Joy will then fill each day you live

So remember forgiveness starts when you give
