A young lad and his hawk

   This is one of my collection of 10 Feather novels. The basic theme is about a young lad who gets in trouble and has to go stay with his grandparents. Not long after he arrives he captures a hawk and trains it to hunt. The titles of the books give a peek of what's in this book. Strong Feather is the first, then Lost Feather, Soft Feather, Horse Feather, Gold Feather, New Feather, Snow Feather, Flight Feather, Soar Feather,  and Proud Feather. These books  are high in adventure, action and morals. They are for all ages as they involve young and old alike.

Gasping for breath, Jimmy bent over and closes his eyes. He had just ran about a quarter of a mile and he was out of breath. Jimmy was a young lad of thirteen. As his breath came back slowly he raised his head and looked around. He had just ran half way up the side of a hill behind his grandparents house. There was a worried look on the face of Jimmy Warrior as he started walking along not paying any attention to what was around him. The gentle slope of the grassy hill was interrupted now and then by small depression. The fluid motion of his body adjusted to them as he moved along. His thoughts were many miles away from the small town of Mercer, Colorado.
