SHEET OF LIFE

I write upon this sheet of life

That now scrolls out before me

While behind me like a ribbon

My life I can plainly see

This life that I’ve been given

Is a precious jewel you see

It was not given to just anybody

It was thoughtfully given to me

There’s not been another like it

Since the beginning of time

There’ll never be another like it

Before the end of time

It is not conceit you see

That fills this bosom of mine

But the reality of the gift

Of that which is only mine

For each of us are made special

There was only one mold cast

What we write upon our sheet of life

Will be our story that will last.

If we want those behind us to follow

The truths we have come to know

We cannot write haphazardly

As down life’s road we go

For if we are not precise

On what we put down each day

And if we are not diligent

Our sheet will have nothing to say

We are unique in every way

In what we say and do

Like the song of old says

‘There’ll never be another you’

So write upon your sheet of life

Great and glorious things my friend

For we appear on this stage only a moment

Before it all comes to an end.

God has given us just one sheet

Do not make it a story of strife

Make sure when your last mark is made

He’ll be pleased with your sheet of life
