MY FRIEND AND ME I do not know When it started But until now We have not parted. Friends we have been Since I was a child And now the years Upon us are piled. His mother was An Indian you see My Great-grandmother Also for me. In a coal mine camp He grew up In a coal mine town I was a pup. Our Dads both worked In a hole in the ground Around the same places We both could be found. Starting to school We soon found Both of us playing On the school ground. He was smarter Than I you see So in the higher Grade was he. They divided the grades In to A and B Not smart enough for A In B you found me. His family one day Moved into town But into an area Where I was not found. Less than a thousand People lived there But some of them Would put on airs. My friend soon found To his dismay They were not accepted Come what may. When the first grade Finally came to an end The two of us Had different friends. But we would meet From time to time Laughing and playing Everything was fine. ((2 of 31 pages + lots of short stories) |
